Over the past few months, we have taken a major and important step toward the digital transformation of our URBAN FOOD brand. In collaboration with our development partner X Logic d.o.o., we successfully completed the first phase of building an advanced IoT digital platform that will serve as the foundation for future innovative products and services.
From Idea to a Functional System
The project began with a simple but essential question: How can we turn existing processes and data into a smart, scalable, and user-friendly digital system?
Through a series of workshops and expert meetings, we defined project goals, user needs, and key system functionalities.
This was followed by an in-depth analysis of the market and existing IoT solutions, leading to the selection of an open-source platform that was further customized to meet Biota’s specific requirements.
A Modern Web and Mobile Application
During the first phase, the core components of the system were developed:

a modern and intuitive web interface,
-
a powerful and flexible backend system,
-
a mobile application for Android and iOS, featuring real-time data synchronization and push notifications.
Special attention was given to user experience, system performance, and reliability, ensuring the platform is easy to use while remaining technically robust.
Our web interface was conected to real time sensors in the URBAN FOOD system in our custum made container (still under construction) for testing phase of the project. Our software enables us to controll water flow, lights, aration, etc.
A Strong Technical Foundation for Future Growth
Beyond software development, a complete technical and organizational framework was established:

a clear system architecture,

well-defined APIs and integrations,

structured project documentation,
-
a ready development team and a roadmap for upcoming phases.
In short — the foundations are in place. The platform is ready for upgrades, new features, and real-world commercial deployment.
Looking Ahead
This phase of the project marks only the beginning, but it already demonstrates how innovation, technology, and sustainability can come together in a concrete and functional solution. The next phases will focus on advanced smart features, data analytics, and expanding the platform’s real-world applications.
