Animal Tagging Solutions
At BIOTA, we provide advanced animal tagging solutions designed to support high‑quality wildlife research, conservation programs, and long‑term ecological monitoring. By combining state-of-the-art PIT, RFID, GPS, and satellite technologies, we enable precise and reliable tracking of animal movements, behaviors, and habitat use across a wide range of environments.
Our tagging services help researchers, conservationists, protected area managers, and infrastructure developers gain real-time insights into species migration, home-range dynamics, seasonal patterns, and habitat connectivity. These data are essential for assessing population health, identifying ecological pressures, and making informed management decisions.
For any plant or animal
Whether it’s tagging plants, fish, reptiles, mammals, bats, or birds, we ensure that all procedures follow international welfare standards, using minimally invasive methods and scientifically validated protocols. Our team can design complete monitoring solutions—from choosing the right tags and equipment to installing detection systems, analyzing data, and producing actionable conservation recommendations.
With BIOTA’s tagging solutions, you gain a clearer picture of the natural world—empowering better protection, smarter planning, and long-term sustainability of wildlife populations.

PIT Tagging & Detection Systems
We offer Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tagging for long-term individual animal identification. This method is ideal for fish, amphibians, reptiles, and small mammals, enabling non-invasive tracking through fixed or mobile antenna systems. PIT systems provide accurate movement, survival, and site fidelity data. We also offer new Temperature PIT tags for live temperature monitoring. We also assist in setting up detection arrays in aquatic and terrestrial environments, based on your needs.
RFID-Based Monitoring
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology allows for automated tracking of animals in real time. Suitable for both terrestrial and aquatic species, our RFID systems are tailored to specific research or management needs. Data collected include movement patterns, habitat use, and behavioral triggers. We provide full support in equipment selection, setup, and data interpretation.
Satellite and GPS Tagging
For tracking wide-ranging or migratory species, we deploy GPS and satellite telemetry devices that deliver high-resolution spatial data. This service is ideal for large mammals, birds, or marine species where long-distance movement is a key part of their ecology. Our team ensures ethical handling, optimal tag selection, and secure data transmission. Results support conservation planning, risk mitigation, and landscape connectivity studies.
Custom Monitoring Solutions & Consulting
We design custom animal tracking systems and research strategies based on your target species and project goals. This includes integrated solutions for environmental impact assessments, biodiversity monitoring, and academic research. Our experts assist with permit requirements, data analysis, and long-term planning. With BIOTA, you gain both technology and trusted ecological expertise.
We developed a custom PIT tag system tailored for plant nurseries, enabling precise tracking and management of individual plants. Each plant is equipped with a unique ID tag, allowing nurseries to identify specific varieties, trace parent plants, and monitor movement throughout the facility. This system streamlines record-keeping, improves traceability, and supports high-value plant breeding and certification programs. Tag is read with your smart phone via USB PIT reader.
